Tohoku Inbound Association
The ‘Visit Japan’ initiative saw over 24,000,000 visitors from overseas come to Japan in 2016. However, very few among those travelling chose to make their way to the Tohoku Area. Compared to the ‘golden route’ of tourists (consisting of Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, and Hokkaido) the difference in the presence of foreign tourists is clear to see.
The Japanese government has announced an aim to bring the number of foreign visitors to 40,000,000 for 2020. The Tohoku Inbound Association aims to work in tandem with this initiative and actively promote the Tohoku area to foreign countries, especially focusing on nearby Asian countries. Our aim is to build an active relationship with our partners overseas and support local governments, companies/groups looking to expand into the global market in Tohoku through ventures such as video production, app development, advertisement design, and event planning and organization in the hope to actively promote the Tohoku image.
